These terms took effect on October 16, 2026, and supersede all prior operational notes, verbal summaries, and informal estimates published across print or digital channels. Any service visit, property dispatch, digital estimate query, or written maintenance agreement scheduled on or after this date is subject without exception to the provisions codified below. This instrument remains in full force until explicitly modified through a revised version published on this page.
Govern.
These Terms of Engagement establish the exact operating standards, pricing mechanisms, access requirements, weather policies, and plant craftsmanship guarantees governing every residential yard project undertaken by Hortelisa in Chicago.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the property owner, authorized tenant, or designated managing agent) and Hortelisa, trading at hortelisa.com and operating as a licensed and registered sole proprietorship in the City of Chicago, Illinois, United States. All physical operations, site assessments, and horticultural labour are directed and executed by founder and professional gardener Ivan Petrov, active in residential garden care since 2019. The postal address, written out in full, is 225 North Columbus Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60601, Chicago, Illinois, United States. Telephone communications are conducted via +1 (729) 555-9386, and digital service correspondence is administered through office@hortelisa.com.
Hortelisa provides physical residential yard maintenance, lawn mowing, turf edging, shrub and hedge trimming, leaf raking and vacuum blowing, seasonal bed planting, mulch installation, weed trenching, and general hourly garden labour within municipal Chicago boundaries. A work crew consists strictly of 1 to 2 trained individuals equipped with professional walk-behind rotary mowers, line trimmers, reciprocating hedge shears, leaf blowers, spades, and hand loppers. Hortelisa explicitly does not perform arboricultural work on mature trees exceeding twelve feet in height, heavy structural stump grinding, masonry foundation construction, synthetic turf installation, or non-targeted aerial chemical herbicide spraying. Any parcel requiring major land clearing or hazardous waste removal is excluded from service.
Nothing on hortelisa.com constitutes a binding commercial offer, retail checkout, or automated contract of sale. Figures displayed across the site, including values generated by the interactive yard fit calculator, represent non-binding indicative planning estimates based on standard residential parcels. An inquiry submitted via our intake form or direct support chat initiates a preliminary scheduling review by Ivan Petrov. A binding service agreement arises only when Hortelisa confirms parcel eligibility, verifies scope and site conditions, issues a written schedule window, and the client communicates explicit written or electronic assent.
All service rates and financial transactions are denominated and payable exclusively in United States Dollars (USD). Baseline pricing bands confirmed by the operator are strictly maintained: residential lawn mowing at $55–$85 per visit; shrub and hedge trimming at $32–$81 per job; autumn leaf clearance and bed blowout at $120–$225 per visit; green zone care and weed edging at $80–$150 per visit; targeted bed planting at $150 per job; bespoke garden labour at $33–$88 per hour; and recurring monthly yard care retainers at $120–$350 per month. Final invoice totals depend strictly upon lot size, turf overgrowth, bed condition, structural complexity, volume of collected green waste, requested urgency, and the procurement cost of specified soil amendments, hardwood mulch, or nursery stock. Payment in full is due upon job completion and digital invoice delivery. Overdue balances past fourteen calendar days accrue a five percent monthly surcharge.
Clients are contractually required to ensure clear, unhindered physical access to all target green zones during the agreed service window, including unlocked side gates and deactivated exterior alarm sensors. The client must inspect turf areas prior to crew arrival to remove children’s toys, garden hoses, electrical cables, construction debris, dog waste, and hidden surface stones that could strike mower blades. Aggressive or unrestrained domestic animals must be secured indoors. If a service visit is obstructed, aborted, or delayed exceeding twenty minutes due to locked access, hazardous pets, or undisclosed physical threats, Hortelisa reserves the right to charge a fifty-five dollar callout fee to offset dispatched fuel and crew time. Visitors using hortelisa.com agree not to submit automated spam payloads, test malicious exploit scripts, or scrape platform architecture.
All written text, technical yard specifications, plant selection guides, photographic media, vector marks, logos, CSS layouts, 3D interactive assets, and software scripts published on hortelisa.com are the exclusive intellectual property of Hortelisa and Ivan Petrov, protected under United States and international copyright laws. Unaltered copying, systematic republication, commercial syndication, or digital mirroring of site copy, price schedules, or photography without prior written authorization from the operator is strictly prohibited.
Horticultural maintenance is directly dependent on Midwest weather systems and biological realities. Hortelisa reserves the unilateral right to reschedule lawn mowing, hedge trimming, and planting operations during periods of heavy precipitation, saturated clay soil conditions, standing surface water, lightning hazards, gale-force winds, or extreme heat emergencies exceeding ninety-five degrees Fahrenheit. Mowing saturated turf tears grass roots and compacts heavy Chicago clay; operations resume immediately once drainage allows. Hortelisa does not warrant plant survival against post-service animal browsing (deer, rabbits, voles), drought neglect, municipal water bans, salt spray from winter de-icing chemicals, severe sub-zero ground freezes without snow cover, or chemical burn from client-applied fertilizers.
Hortelisa maintains appropriate municipal registration and commercial business liability insurance for residential landscape maintenance in the City of Chicago. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Illinois law, Hortelisa's aggregate cumulative liability for any claim, loss, property damage, or dispute arising out of service performance or site usage shall not exceed the total monetary sum paid by the client for the specific service visit giving rise to the claim. Hortelisa is not liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages, nor for unintentional damage to unmarked underground shallow irrigation lines, unflagged landscape lighting wiring buried under three inches, or root damage to diseased specimens already suffering from vascular rot.
Clients may cancel or postpone a scheduled routine maintenance visit by providing verbal or written notice at least twenty-four hours prior to the booked dispatch morning. Cancellations made with less than twenty-four hours notice after fuel and routing schedules have locked may incur a fifty-five dollar late notice fee. Monthly recurring yard maintenance retainers require written notice seven business days before the first day of the next billing cycle. Hortelisa reserves the right to immediately suspend or permanently terminate services to any property exhibiting persistent abusive conduct toward the work crew, deliberate payment delinquency, recurrent locked gate lockouts, or structural job site safety violations.
These terms, their interpretation, and any claim or dispute arising out of residential yard operations or website access shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. The parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive personal and subject matter jurisdiction of the Circuit Court of Cook County, located in Chicago, Illinois, for the resolution of any legal proceedings that cannot be settled amicably through direct good-faith conference between the property owner and Ivan Petrov.
Hortelisa reserves the right to modify, amend, or update these Terms of Engagement at any time to reflect legislative updates, insurance requirements, or changes to operational practices. When amendments occur, the revised instrument will be published immediately on hortelisa.com with a refreshed statutory effective date. Existing clients enrolled in monthly recurring yard care programs will receive email notification at least fourteen days prior to any material change impacting recurring fee schedules or cancellation protocols. Continued scheduling of service following such notice constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.
Any formal legal notice, contractual inquiry, service complaint, or statutory demand relating to these Terms of Engagement must be delivered in writing to Hortelisa, Attention: Legal & Service Desk, 225 North Columbus Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60601, Chicago, Illinois, United States, or transmitted electronically to office@hortelisa.com with the subject line “Legal Notice — Terms of Engagement.” Phone inquiries concerning active service visits may be directed to +1 (729) 555-9386 during working field hours.
Guarantee.
Workmanship is backed by our direct craftsman guarantee. When Ivan Petrov installs perennials or cuts your lawn, the work is executed to strict horticultural standards.
Thirty-Day Plant Establishment Warranty: Hardy perennial shrubs and bed plantings installed directly by Hortelisa under our $150 per job planting service carry a 30-day establishment guarantee. If any plant specimen fails to establish healthy root growth within thirty calendar days of installation, Hortelisa will conduct an on-site inspection. If soil conditions and planting depths were maintained according to our provided watering instructions, we will replace the specimen with an identical or ecologically suited alternative at no plant cost, assessing only a nominal labor rate.
Lawn & Shrub Workmanship Remedy: If a lawn cut or shrub trimming service fails to meet agreed specifications—such as missed perimeter edging, uneven cutting height, or uncollected debris on paved hardscapes—the client must notify Hortelisa within twenty-four hours of job completion. Ivan Petrov will return to the property within forty-eight hours to rectify the discrepancy at no additional charge.
Exclusions to Guarantee: This warranty does not cover mechanical damage inflicted by third-party contractors, pet disruption, uncontrolled storm damage, drought neglect, municipal water rationing, herbicide overspray by neighboring properties, or insect infestations originating outside the treated beds.
